Life will prevail over death; light will prevail over the darkness

A soldier in the Ukrainian armed forces since 2015, Mykhailo Dianov was captured during the siege of Mariupol, and only released in September 2022. A photo takenof a wounded but smiling Dianov became a symbol for the Azovstal defence. He faced torture and neglect in Russian captivity and as a result, suffered permeant damage to his left arm. Dianov went on married his partner, Myroslava and is now a police officer in Ternopil.
